A Sit down with Kerrisdale Capital Founder SahmAdrangi

After writing and publishing a piece titled ‘An Ode To Those who Wander’ last week, former Wall Street Bond trader and hedge fund analyst reach out to have a discussion pertaining GNC Holdings, Inc. SahmAndrangi is described as Penn State Graduate who is hard Charging. He landed an internship at Merill Lynch credit store in New York City through networking.  While Working at Paulson & Co as the credit PM, he made short mortgage bonds that amounted to $6 billion. He also worked in the same position at Bowery Investment Management, LLC. He eventually quit the allure of Wall Street in June 2015 but still loves investing. He generates lots of his income from good security selection using the seed capital he made on Wall Street. He also spent some time at Longrace before becoming the hedge fund founder at the Kerrisdale Capital. An article dubbed ‘The Pebble Deposit Isn’t Commercial Viable’ that Sahm published recently enabled us to buy back NAK. From our conversation, he remains a good guy who likes investing and making good money.

About Sahm

SahmAdrangi is the Chief Investment Officer at Kerrisdale Capital Management, a company that he founded. Sahm has a direct involvement with every aspect of the firm’s development since its inception in 2009. Sahm has enabled Kerrisdale Capital to manage more than $150 million as of July 2017. This is far more than the $1 million that Sahm used to launch the company with. Sahm engaged Lindsay Corporation with the aim of optimizing company’s capital allocation policy and the cash deployment.

He started his career at Deutsche Bank credit by performing high yield and leveraged loan debts financing. Sahm has been speaking in different conferences and has appeared on interviews at Bloomberg as well as CNBC. Sahm has also been featured in major publications such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Business Week, and Washington Post among others. He has worked at Longrace Management for quite a long time. He graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
