In the world of beauty and hair color, one name stands out from the rest, and that’s the self-prolaimed Unicorn Queen, Doe Deere, the creator of the unique makeup company, Lime Crime. With her unconventional success story matching her non-traditional hair color choices, she is a marvel of innovation and self-making.
Lime Crime wasn’t her first foray into having her own business. As a young girl living in Russia, when she was only thirteen she designed and sold temporary tattoos, and made what was normally seen as a novelty into trendy everyday wear. She wasn’t afraid to start a trend just by confidently wearing which tattoos she liked.
Doe Deere moved to New York City from Russia when she was seventeen years old with dreams of becoming a musician. In her pursuits and her success, she founded and performed with a band, and there she learned about marketing, branding and networking, as well as feeding her naturally entrepreneurial spirit. The band is also how she met her husband, a collaborative songwriter. She stayed between Brooklyn and Manhattan for nearly fourteen years before moving to LA.
In 2008, just before the start of Lime Crime, Doe Deere was put off by the lack of bright colors during a time when the beauty industry was obsessed with the “natural” look. Beginning her beauty career in fashion design, she found colors and expression to be the most important to her, and she learned how people express themselves through how they look: our clothes our hair, and the colors we choose. Thus she created Lime Crime to be a brand for those who love makeup, love color, and love to express themselves.
Lime Crime as a company is 100% vegan, and also cruelty-free. She creates lipsticks, eyeshadow colors and highlighter, but also has a line of hair color. These colors come in a variety of bright hues, just like the ones Deere herself always rocks. It is important to her not to use any animal products and not test her products on animals, so Lime Crime is an incredibly humane company as a result.
Doe Deere lives her life rebelliously, following her dreams and encouraging others to do the same. She built her dream company, Lime Crime, from the bottom up, and is inspiring more people every day to make their dreams come true. Learn more: https://www.facebook.com/doedeereofficial
