Could You Benefit From A Therapist?

It is possible that you might benefit from the services of a licensed therapist. At the very least, it is worth looking into. There are millions of people who suffer with mental illness in one form or another. Some have more severe cases than others, but all are people who potentially need to have someone who is a professional take a look at their situation.

Since there are not nearly enough therapists to see everyone, and since the expense of going to a therapist is too much for many people to bare, it is nice that services like Talkspace exist. They are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but they have managed to help a great number of people get the kind of assistance they require.

Talkspace has stated that of the people who have used their program instances of hospitalization for mental health issues is 25% less than that of the general public. It is a big claim, and it would point to the idea that their product is really helpful to a lot of people.

While that would indeed be something to celebrate, there are still critics of the service as well. Some say that the distance that a texting conversation puts between the therapist and the patient is just too much to handle. They say that it makes it very easy for a patient to simply end the session if they are pushed outside of their comfort zone even a little bit. That could certainly be true. It might also be the case that someone might get distracted by other things going on with their phone and therefore end up not giving the therapy session their full attention.

As you can see, there are arguments to be made in favor of and against using Talkspace as a primary form of therapy. That being said, at least the service exists so that people may make up their own minds about the validity of it for them.
