Eli Gershkovitch: Entrepreneur, Pilot and Visionary
Canadian craft beer was unknown until Eli Gershkovitch developed his own brewery and pub in 1995. Steamworks Group is Eli’s company and pub that provides original craft beer including the award-winning Pilsner, which was awarded the Best BC Craft Beer two years in a row. Eli also owns the Rogue Kitchen and Wetbar, which is right next-door to his brewpub. All of Eli Gershkovitch’s establishments offer Steamworks beverages including, Lion’s Gate Lager, Steamworks Pale Ale, and the flagship IPA. The company’s popular pumpkin ale won a gold medal at the 2013 Canadian Brewing Awards. Eli has grown his business from a local pub to an international supplier of craft beer and steam brew for a little over 20 years.
Eli Gershkovitch is a Canadian Businessman, CEO, pilot, and lawyer. Eli is currently the CEO of Steamworks, which is a Fortune 500 company that operates in the beer brewing industry. Eli graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in law, but his passion for producing craft beer developed when he traveled to Europe in 1987.
Mr. Gershkovitch practiced law for some time before the beginning of his immaculate career and ingenious business strategy (AskReporter). It was here he became familiar with liquor licenses and the brewing industry in general. In 1995, he opened the Steamworks Brew Pub in Gastown which originally ad 184 seats, it now has 754. His success and passion enabled him to become a hero in the community of Gastown as he began sponsoring local events and developing the area into a popular destination for tourists and the local inhabitants alike.
Eli Gershkovitch founded Steamworks in 1995 and opened his full-scale brewery in 2013. Eli continues to focus on innovation and consistent improvement in order to remain competitive and meet the ever-increasing demand. His motto is “you grow to meet demand, or demand will shrink to meet you.” Eli Gershkovitch’s method to remain competitive is to provide quality beer at low prices and to always stay abreast of the changing tastes and preferences of its consumers.

In just a few years Eli Gershkovitch expanded his client base to countries around the world including Austria, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, and Switzerland. His craft beer sells in 14 states in the U.S and several Canadian provinces.
